Clever Trevaunance to work out Cork puzzle for Harrington

Jessica Harrington
Jessica Harrington can taste success at Cork on Friday, with Trevaunance fancied to win the Noblesse Stakes

Trevaunance sets the standard in the featured Noblesse Stakes at Cork on Friday afternoon and can come out on top in the Listed contest for the in-form yard of Jessica Harrington.

The Moyglare-owned daughter of Muhaarar takes a drop in class now in the mile-and-a-half contest having been in Dubai for her last couple of starts.

She wasn’t disgraced when making a bold bid from the front in Group Two company at Meydan last month and this is an easier task.

Her best runs have come on the continent with a Group 2 success at Deauville in August 2022 while she was also runner-up in Group One company over in Cologne last September.

The five-year-old has achieved more than her rivals to date and with fitness not an issue she looks the one to beat in this Listed contest.

There are some nice unexposed types in the field and Countess Of Tyrone is an interesting rival.

The Australia filly looked smart when winning on her debut at the Galway Festival last summer and connections felt that she would be a better filly this year.

Paddy Twomey is a trainer to be respected and it would be no surprise if she could make her mark at stakes level this season.

Joseph O’Brien runs three in the race and Dylan Browne McMonagle takes the mount on Thunder Roll.

She didn’t make much impression in top level company at Longchamp on her final start last season but had taken a Galway Listed contest previously and still looks fairly unexposed.

O’Brien looks to have a few with decent chances and Bad Desire should collect in the opening mile maiden.

The Wootton Bassett colt chased home Navy Seal on his sole start at Galway last summer and that form has worked out well since.

In the 10-furlong conditions race later on the card, Stromberg sets a good standard and should be able to give weight away to his four rivals.

The 104-rated son of Iffraaj posted a couple of impressive wins last season before finishing fifth to Deepone in the Group Two Beresford Stakes at the Curragh on his final outing.

He didn’t have the clearest run in that race and looks capable of making a mark at stakes level this season so this would appear to be a nice starting point.
